One of my favorite color combinations is brown and cream. I probably wear that most often (of course with pink! you can never go wrong with pink. just sayin') Anyway... I had the pleasure of creating something for a husband to give to his wife for a special occasion. This was the result, along with a matching pair of earrings, link at the bottom of this page.
This necklace is made up of stunning boro lampwork beads and I've combined it with Crazy Agate ovals, Amber Shell, Zebra Jade, Honey Jasper, Bali sterling beads and Swarovski Crystal. The sterling hand-hammered Karen Hill Tribe circular focal bead (which sets off to the side, one of my favorite looks) comes from the last known tribe in Indonesia that literally makes each piece by hand.
The Karen Hill Tribe workers, the vast majority of them women who live in their homes and make the pieces each month. At the end of a month they come into the city, bringing with them their designs. I love knowing this about The Karen Hill Tribe. That these people are supporting their families with what they do best...just like me. It makes you truly realize how very small this world is, doesn't it? If you want more information on them, you can go here.
